Sugar Refining and Decolorization (Horne’s Dry Lead): In analytical chemistry and food science, basic lead acetate is famously used to clarify and decolorize sugar solutions prior to polarimetric testing. It precipitates out proteins, gums, and coloring matter without altering the sucrose content.
Laboratory Reagent: for use as a clarifying agent, precipitant, and reagent in organic synthesis and biochemical assays.

Lead Acetate Basic Anhydrous 99% Extrapure is a highly refined, high-purity form of basic lead acetate (also known as lead subacetate). Its chemical composition is typically represented as Pb(C2H3O2)2. 2 Pb(OH)2 or structurally approximated as Pb3O(C2H3O2)4.
Unlike standard “neutral” lead acetate, basic lead acetate contains additional lead oxide or lead hydroxide components, making it more alkaline. The “Extrapure 99%” designation means it has been rigorously purified to contain at least 99% active chemical content with minimal trace impurities, making it strictly suited for laboratory, analytical, and specialty industrial applications.
